Invitation to Enter His Rest
I had a dream in 2013 that revealed an important message for our times. If we do not heed the message, we may find ourselves unprepared for what is about to break out upon us. In addition, if we do not heed the message, we could find ourselves casualties of “burn out” and discouragement.
In the dream, I saw a very large recliner on the stage of the Trinity Broadcasting Network “Praise the Lord Show”. Then the scene shifted and I saw the recliner suspended in the air, wrapped in plastic wrap. I knew it was being offered as a love gift.
One distinguishing trait of the Praise the Lord Show has been offering love gifts to those who would make a donation to the ministry. For example, for a donation of any amount they would offer to send you a free book, lapel pin, or some other item as an expression of their love and heartfelt thanks for partnering with them in ministry.
As the recliner was center stage, so must all of our activity, ministry, and work, flow from a place of rest. God is bringing center stage and emphasizing the importance of rest. We are being given an invitation to enter into His rest.
Entering the rest of the Lord is an internal rest. It does not mean we cease from all outward activity. In fact, the demands on our time and energies are only going to increase in these end times. There is much work to be done. However, if we do not work from a place of internal rest, we will soon find ourselves suffering burnout and discouragement.
As we choose rest, we will be given the love gift of rest that only comes from the presence of the Lord. The Lord inhabits the praise of His people. Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise.
Rest in the finished work of Christ. Rest in His unchanging love. Rest in His goodness all the time. Rest in His provision that He withholds no good thing from you. Cease striving, relax, let go and experientially know that He is God (See Psalms 46:10). Chill out in His presence. Kick up your feet, recline upon His breast, cease from your own strivings, and enjoy times of refreshment in His presence and finished work. Place your hope, trust and confidence in Christ, and what He has and will do; not in what you think you have to do.
If its possible, I think many could have an identity crisis in heaven, if they are finding their identity in what they do now through their gifting and works of service. Our identity is found in our being in relationship with God and not in what we do. Our doing must flow out of our being.
Practice being still and quiet internally, in His presence. He lives in you. He is always with you. Enjoy Him. Rest in His love. Cease striving in your own strength for results and success. Serve from a place of relaxation, knowing that it is Christ in you who brings results and success.
“This is what the Sovereign Lord, the Holy One of Israel, says: “Only in returning to me and resting in me will you be saved. In quietness and confidence is your strength. But you would have none of it” (Isaiah 30:15 NLT).
